After being married for little over a decade, Oscar winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow and husband Chris Martin have decided to "uncouple" now!

Paltrow (41), famously infamous for her long list of high-profile relationships with fellow actors like Brad Pitt, Ben Affleck, Scott Speedman and Luke Wilson in the past, had done her best to keep away her marriage with the Coldplay frontman (37) out of the public eye.

However, the 'Iron Man' star came out in the open about the status of their relationship, first time in many years, giving the low-down on her split with hubby in a post in her website Goop, explaining they tried over the past year to save their marriage, but failed. 'It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate,' she wrote.

Gwyneth and Chris have two kids together — daughter Apple, nine, and son Moses, seven. In their emotional, somewhat bizarrely entitled statement called 'Conscious Uncoupling', the duo admitted to having spent over a year trying to save their marriage.

They wrote: 'We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate.'

'We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been.'

'We are parents first and foremost, to two incredibly wonderful children and we ask for their and our space and privacy to be respected at this difficult time. We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and coparent, we will be able to continue in the same manner.

The letter was signed off by Gwyneth & Chris. Shortly after posting the statement, Goop crashed.

Just before Gwyneth broke the news on her website, the couple flew to Eleuthera in the Bahamas with their children to spend some private moments and escape all the buzz that would ensue.

Gwyneth and Chris' separation is turning out to be one of the rare and most civilized splits in the tinsel town.

Gwyneth and Chris, who married secretly in a ceremony in Mexico in December 2003, have spent the last 10-years of their lives successfully avoiding the paparazzi, in a bid to maintain their privacy and peace.
