In a shocking incident, the aadhaar details of over 81.5 crore people has been leaked from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and this is the biggest ever data leak till date in the country. The leak was noticed by Resecurity which happens to be an American Cyber Security and Intelligence Agency. As per the reports, a 'threat actor' with a nickname of 'pwn001' posted a complete thread on Breach Forums and described as 'Premier Databreach Discussoon and Leaks Forum'. The Aadhaar information of 815 million Indians has been leaked.

This is more than 10 times the total population of nations like Turkey, Germany, Iran and other nations. India is now the most populated country of the globe with a population of over 1.43 billion. The handle on X advertised the information of Aadhaar and Passport details along with the contact names and communication addresses. The hacker informed that the information has been extracted from the Covid-19 test details of the citizens that are registered with the ICMR. The spreadsheets are leaked with four large samples and upon the verficiation they are traced valid. The Indian government or ICMR is yet to respond about the leaks. There are reports that CBI will probe into the issue very soon after an official complaint is lodged by the ICMR.
