Indian coronavirus tally crosses 3 lakh mark

A total number of 3,17,532 new cases of coronavirus are reported in the country in the last 24 hours and this is the highest single-day spike in the recent months after the second wave of coronavirus calmed down. The total number of recoveries reported in the last 24 hours are said to be 2,23,990 and there are 19,24,051 active cases of coronavirus in India. The daily positivity rate climbed further and it is 16.41 percent now. There are 9287 Omicron variant cases reported in India now in total. 491 people passed away in India in total in the last 24 hours. There is 12 percent rise in the new cases of coronavirus in India when compared to yesterday. The positivity rate is highest in the state of Kerala and it stands at 37 percent.

Shiromani Akali Dal leader Parkash Singh Badal is tested positive for coronavirus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to him and enquired about his health. He is currently being treated in a hospital in Ludhiana. The daily tally of coronavirus cases is the highest in the last 249 days. The active cases comprise of 5.03 percent of the total infections in the country and the recovery rate decreased to 93.09 percent. More than 158.96 crore vaccine doses are administered in India till date as per the reports from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. More than 12.72 crore doses of vaccines are available. A total number of 19,35,180 tests for coronavirus are conducted in the country in the last 24 hours. In a new study, an infection due to the Omicron variant may not generate great immunity among the unvaccinated individuals.
