Centre in Plans for a Covid-19 Drill

The coronavirus scare in China is shaking the entire world. With the new deaths reaching all time high, the governments of all the countries have issued new guidelines and the restrictions are back in some of the countries. The Indian government has chaired several crucial meetings to conduct an assessment about the Covid-19 situation in the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked the health officials to be prepared to face the new set of cases because of the new Omicron variant. The governments of all the Indian states and the union territories will conduct special mock drills on Tuesday so that they will be ready with the operations of the facilities of Covid-19. Special focus is kept on ventilators, oxygen plants, logistics and human resources.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Madaviya has interacted with the health officials and chalked out special plans for the same. The Health Ministers of the states and union territories are in touch with Mansukh Madaviya. The Union Health Minister asked the states to strengthen the surveillance system for the genome sequencing of the samples of the positive cases that are reported in the recent times. The new variants can be detected if they are circulated in the country. Mansukh Madaviya said that special focus will be given to the health facilities, surveillance, sewage or wastewater surveillance. Considering the upcoming holiday season, Mansukh Madaviya asked the people to be extra cautious.
