Two months into the detection of the first coronavirus case, the federal government of the United States is working to combat the spread of this virus which is expected to last for 18 months and also might include “multiple waves of illness”.
Hospitals have been alarmed with the quick usage of the supplies with the increase in the number of cases. The US cases surged by 40% in just 24 hours, showcasing a very alarming rate of increase.
Owing to the shortage of the medical supplies, the US government has announced that they are going to work to meet the shortage of the supplies. They are also going to deploy two hospital ships to help enhance the medical capacity of the country.
Amidst the 9000 positive cases that have been reported in the United Stated, 149 people have died.
In a conducted news conference, President Donald Trump stated saying, “I view it as, in a sense, of wartime president. I mean, that's what we're fighting. It's a very tough situation here.”
The government officials have also jumped into actions this week to contain the spread of the virus by shutting down schools, converting the restaurants to take out only and preventing unnecessary mass gatherings around.
The policy was first implemented in San Francisco by Mayor London Breed to mitigate the crisis. He has also instructed his citizens to shelter in peace and take the prospect of social distancing seriously.
10 million people are being projected under such order to help contain the spread and to not end up actively infecting other healthy individuals.
Dr. Bela Matyas, who is the Solano County public health officer also stated saying, “We are taking this health crisis seriously and trying to protect our community while still ensuring that the essential parts of our county can function and attempting to lessen the substantial burden placed on workers and business.”
With the hospitals running out of the stocks and supplies, it is a red alarm for the federal government to act on it and proactively suffice for the loss of resources.
