COVID-19: Pak agrees to PM Modi’s suggestion for Saarc video conference call

Pakistan has said that it would be taking part in a video conference of Saarc member countries which has been proposed by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, in order to combat the coronavirus pandemic that is spreading at an alarming rate all across the globe.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached out to the regional grouping of the eight members on Friday and had pitched for a video conference among the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation in order to chalk out a strong strategy that can be used in combating the outbreak of the deadly novel coronavirus.

The spokesperson for the foreign affairs ministry of Pakistan has responded early on Friday with a tweet and had said that the special assistant for health of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan, had been deputed for participating in the video conference that has been proposed.

It has been earlier said by the spokesperson that Pakistan was ready in extending assistance to its neighbors.

Narendra Modi has urged the neighbors of India, on twitter to join hands in order to fight the outbreak of the deadly novel coronavirus which has claimed more than 5000 lives across the globe and which has infected more than 130,000 people.

The call that has been made by the PM Modi has been quickly responded by the neighboring countries which include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

So far, the country India has recorded two deaths that have been caused by being infected by the deadly novel coronavirus and the deadly virus has infected around 80 people which also include 17 foreigners.

Pakistan has reported the number of confirmed cases of being infected by the deadly novel COVID-19 as 21 in number and seven positive cases and 60 suspected cases have been so fare reported in Afghanistan.

It has been reported that there is one case each in Bhutan and Nepal, two confirmed cases in Sri Lanka, three cases in Bangladesh, and the Maldives is said to be having eight cases.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic as the deadly novel coronavirus has been spreading at an alarming rate across the globe, infecting and claiming lives of several number of people.

Currently, the number of cases that have been confirmed of being infected by the deadly novel COVID-19 has been recorded to be 148,595 in number and the number of deaths that have been caused due to being infected by the virus is said to be 5,547.
