Nobel Peace Prize 2014 to be presented to Kailash Satyarthi and Malala Yousafzai today. The Peace Prize and its recipients' lectures are presented at the annual Prize Award Ceremony in Oslo, Norway, usually on 10 December. The award ceremonies and the associated banquets are typically major international events. The Nobel Peace Prize ceremony has been held at the Norwegian Nobel Institute(1905–1946), at the auditoriumof the University of Oslo (1947–1989) and at Oslo City Hall (1990–present).In Oslo, the Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee presents the Nobel Peace Prize in the presence of the King of Norway.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced on 10th October, that The Nobel Peace Prize 2014 was awarded jointly to Kailash Satyarthi and Malala Yousafzai "for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education".
Kailash Satyarthi, an Indian children's rights advocate and an activist against child labour. He founded the Bachpan Bachao Andolan in 1980 and has fought to protect the rights of more than 83,000 children from 144 countries, contributed alot for curbing the practice of child working and for promoting Child Education and Rights.
Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest-ever Nobel Prize recipient. Despite her youth, Malala is fighting for several years for the right of girls to education, This she has done under the most dangerous circumstances.On the afternoon of 9th October 2012, Taliban Militants fired on her,when she was in her school bus in the northwest Pakistani district of Swat. In the days immediately following the attack, she remained unconscious and in critical condition, but later her condition improved enough for her to be sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham,England, for intensive rehabilitation. On 12 July 2013, Yousafzai spoke at the headquarters of The United Nations to call for worldwide access to education, Through her heroic struggle she has become a leading spokesperson for girls' right to education.
With this award the Nobel Laurates are vested with more responsibility in promoting child rights and educating the younger generation.
