Over 40 lakh Children Get their First Dose of Vaccination on Day OneJanuary 04, 2022 14:30

The vaccination drive for the children aged between 15 and 18 years commenced yesterday in India. A total number of 37,84,212 children received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine till 7 PM last night. Lakhs of children registered for the vaccination on the CoWIN portal. As per the estimates, over 40 lakh children received their first dose by the end of Monday informed Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya. The Centre sent enough number of doses for the states for the vaccination drive in the country. The Indian government wanted the states to vaccinate as many children as the spread of the Omicron variant is huge.
The states of Maharashtra, New Delhi, Karnataka, Haryana and West Bengal imposed strict restrictions after the new cases saw a huge rise all over. More than 2000 Omicron cases are reported in the country and the Centre imposed several restrictions for the travelers coming from abroad. Despite proper screening, the spread of the variant is increased and the variant is now present in all the states and union territories. The parents say that the vaccination dose is a huge relief for their children. Special vaccination centres are set up across the country for the vaccination doses of the children.
"Well done Young India! Over 40 Lakhs between 15-18 age group received their first dose of #COVID19 vaccine on the 1st day of vaccination drive for children, till 8 PM. This is another feather in the cap of India’s vaccination drive" posted Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya. Several children got registered for the vaccination drive in the coming days and the Centre made sure that enough doses are available with the states.
