Indian mutant of coronavirus deepening the crisis in the country

The coronavirus that is spreading in India is more contagious and the outbreak is explosive. A Chief Scientist from the World Health Organization (WHO) said that the variant in India is extremely rapidly spreading one and the country should be serious. Soumya Swaminathan, the Chief Scientist from India says that the variant B.1.617 was detected in October 2020 and is the major contributing factor for the catastrophe unfolding in the country. The World Health Organization listed this as the variant of interest and it is now turning up as the variant of concern as per the health authorities in USA and United Kingdom.

Soumya Swaminathan says that the variant has mutations that will increase the transmission and it could make it resistant to the antibodies. Countries like Bangladesh, South Africa and the United Kingdom detected cases of Indian variant in their countries as per their Health Ministries. Considering the financial crisis, the Centre did not announce a lockdown but some of the states are implementing this. The country has been reporting close to 4 lakh cases on a daily basis and there is a huge health crisis in the country. Close to 4000 people are dying on a regular basis in the country. On the whole, the situations in India are quite alarming for now.
