Narendra Modi Announces setting up trust to build Ram Temple in Ayodhya

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the constitution of a trust which would oversee the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, on Wednesday in a speech that has been made in the Lok Sabha.

This initiative has been taken nearly three months after the case that has been decades old was ruled out by the Supreme Court.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced in the Lok Sabha saying, “The Union Cabinet has given its nod to set up a trust for the construct of a Ram temple in Ayodhya.”


PM Narendra Modi has said that the trust which has been appointed for the construction of the Ram temple has been named as Shri Ram Janambhoomi Teerth Shetra.

He has added saying that five acres of land is being given by Uttar Pradesh to Sunni Wakf Board as it has been directed by the Supreme Court in the Ayodhya matter.

Amit Shah who is the Home Minister of India has said that the trust which is responsible for the construction of the Ram temple known as the Shri Ram Janambhoomi Teerth Shetra would be consisting of fifteen members out of which one would be appointed as a member from the Dalit community.

The Supreme Court has given a verdict regarding the decades- old case of the Ayodhya matter, on the 9th of November,2019. The verdicts that has been given by the Supreme court has paved a way for the construction of a Ram temple by a trust at the site of Ayodhya which has been disputed and the Center has also been directed by the Supreme Court in order to allot an alternative five acre land as a plot to the Sunni Waqf Board in order to build a new mosque at a prominent place in the town which is considered to be holy in Uttar Pradesh.

It has been said by the apex court that the trust for the construction of the Ramp temple ought to be formed within three months and the temple must be constructed at the holy site where people who belong to the Hindu religion believe Lord Ram was born.

The announcement regarding the formation of trust for the construction of Ram temple has been made in Lok Sabha just days before Delhi holds a February 8 election which mainly pits the Bharatiya Janata Party against the Aam Aadmi Party which is the current ruling party.

Based on the judgement that has been given in the Supreme Court regarding the Ayodhya matter which was the Ram Janmabhoomi- Babri Masjit matter, it has been directed to the central government in order to formulate a scheme which consists of necessary provisions in order to set up a trust with a board of trustees or any other appropriate body, the functioning of the trust, the powers of the trustees, transferring the land to the trust and all the matters that are necessary, incidental and supplemental.

A desk has been set up in the Union home ministry in order to look into all the matters related to Ayodhya and the court judgement being passed regarding the same. The desk is said to be handled by the three officers which are headed by Gynesh Kumar as its additional secretary, as said by an official.
