Prime Minister Narendra Modi is anticipated to hold discussions with the all-party delegation that has been reaching out to the international community to relay India’s position following the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. According to sources, this meeting is expected to occur in Delhi around June 9 or 10, where the delegations will likely inform the Prime Minister about their diplomatic efforts, significant engagements, and the feedback received from various nations. In an effort to secure global support for India’s counter-terrorism initiatives, the BJP-led administration assigned seven multi-party delegations to visit 33 capital cities worldwide to communicate India’s perspectives.
Each delegation consisted of Members of Parliament from different political factions, prominent political figures, and seasoned diplomats. The seven groups were headed by the following MPs:
- Shashi Tharoor (INC)
- Ravi Shankar Prasad (BJP)
- Sanjay Kumar Jha (JDU)
- Baijayant Panda (BJP)
- Kanimozhi Karunanidhi (DMK)
- Supriya Sule (NCP)
- Shrikant Eknath Shinde (Shiv Sena)
Altogether, these delegations comprised 59 individuals, with 31 political leaders affiliated with the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and 20 members from other parties. Former diplomats also participated in supporting these delegations during their diplomatic activities. Saudi Arabia voiced strong backing for India’s battle against terrorism linked to Pakistan, while Italy suggested enhancing cooperation between the two countries, and Indonesia committed to supporting New Delhi’s anti-terrorism position on all international fronts.
India’s strict stance on terrorism received praise in South Africa, and France reiterated its commitment to stand with New Delhi in the fight against this global issue. While in Saudi Arabia, the all-party delegation met with Adel Al-Jubeir, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, reaffirming Riyadh’s decisive stance against terrorism. The Indian Embassy in Riyadh posted on X that the delegation “valued Saudi Arabia’s position against terrorism and highlighted India’s firm standpoint, including its zero-tolerance and 'new normal' approach towards terrorism.” Baijayant Jay Panda, leader of the delegation, characterized the meeting as “meaningful,” and shared on X that “India and Saudi Arabia have a dynamic partnership based on trust, common interests, and an expanding strategic relationship.” Panda led the eight-member team to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria.
Sources revealed that the delegation led by Panda is scheduled to return to India from Algeria tomorrow morning, with their arrival expected at 8:30 AM.
