On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made six promises to the residents of West Bengal while criticizing the Trinamool Congress for poor management of the economy and for issues with law enforcement in the state. During a rally in Haldia, which is set for elections on April 23, PM Modi assured that he would establish law and order, enhance transparency in administration, investigate all corruption cases, remove illegal immigrants, and apply the 7th Pay Commission if the BJP gains power in West Bengal. "I promise that the BJP will follow the Constitution. Everyone will get what they deserve, this is my commitment," he stated while introducing his six promises. PM Modi criticized the Trinamool Congress for not supporting West Bengal’s economic progress, arguing that the state has declined in all areas of development over the past 15 years. "Haldia used to be one of the key industrial hubs in modern India, but over the years, the factories here have closed down. People used to come to Haldia for jobs, but now they are leaving for other states to find work," he asserted.
He accused the TMC government of taking jobs away from young people in Bengal and giving them to "infiltrators," promising to change this system in the state. "There are no factories anymore, only those that serve infiltrators," he claimed. Advocating for a government with a double engine in the state, PM Modi stated that the BJP would restore West Bengal's economy. "This is a campaign for a developed Bengal," he mentioned. He emphasized that true advancement will occur when both the Prime Minister and Chief Minister collaborate. PM Modi pointed out the drop in fish production in the state, alleging it has significantly decreased under Mamata Banerjee’s leadership. His remarks about fisheries align with the TMC's concerns that the BJP may impose a ban on meat and fish if elected. "In the last 11 years, fish production has doubled in other states, but not in Bengal," he claimed. "Now, the TMC government has to purchase fish from outside," he added, while commending Bihar and Assam for boosting their fish production through the PM Matsya Yojana.
He addressed the crowd, stating that the Trinamool did not carry out the policy because it included "PM" in its title, claiming that the party dislikes him. "They either avoid a policy with 'PM,' or they change its title," he claimed. Accusing the TMC of being involved in a corrupt system in the state, PM Modi informed the audience that the BJP will offer a clean and open government. "In the TMC regime, nothing happens without taking kickbacks and commissions. But the BJP will not put up with corruption or favoritism," he declared. He vowed that the BJP would look into every scam and corruption allegations against TMC officials, saying to the audience: "Sabka hisaab hoga (everyone will be held accountable). " Criticizing the Mamata Banerjee administration for the increasing rape incidents in the state, the prime minister pledged to restore law and order as soon as the BJP takes control. "The daughters of Bengal are in danger while pursuing careers in medicine and law," he remarked.
PM Modi asserted that victims of rape will receive justice when the saffron party is in power. "There is fear under the TMC. There will be a law and order system under the BJP," he mentioned. PM Modi is set to lead the BJP's intense campaign efforts in North Bengal, just before the first round of voting on April 23. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is prepared to hold seven significant rallies in the state this week, with party members optimistic that his speeches will give a boost to the BJP's campaign at the last moment.
