Amit Shah, close aide of Narendra Modi, had stated that 'Modi wave has become a tsunami' on Thursday. The statement brought a sharp reaction from the Congress, which termed tsunami as something destructive.
Amit Shah's comment came after the spectacular roadshow in Varanasi that had the BJP boasting around. The saffron party termed the massive crowd as indicative of people's support for the BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
Thousands of people in Varanasi lined up the streets to get a glimpse of the the 63-year-old BJP leader. Some of them danced amid the din of beating drums. Modi waved to the cheering crowd from an open truck as he proceeded to file his nomination with a show of strength.
Amit Shah who was with Narendra Modi during the roadshow boasted about the massive support saying the 'Modi wave has become a tsunami'.
According to Shah, the mass support to Modi will definitely wipe out the Samajwadi Party, BSP and the Congress in Uttar Pradesh. He was also sure that the Varanasi roadshow will benefit the BJP in Bihar as well as in other neighbouring states.
The political atmosphere in the country clearly indicates - Ab ki baar, Modi Sarkaar (it's time for a Modi government), Modi's close aide further added.
Congress criticised Amit Shah's statement as being ominous as it brings death, grief, devastation and destruction.
Union minister Anand Sharma while questioning Amit Shah's comment said is the BJP telling the country that the tsunami will wipe out whatever has been nurtured and consolidated in a constitutional democracy.
The word 'tsunami' has sparked a heated debate and has become a trending topic on social media.
