Swami Agnivesh, former member of Team Anna, claimed that Aam Aadmi Party's chief Arvind Kejriwal had wanted Anna Hazare to sacrifice his life in 2011. According to reports, Agnivesh was refering to the fast-unto-death undertaken by Hazare in 2011 against corruption.

"While Anna was on a fast, Kejriwal had said to the team that a revolution requires martyrdom," said Agnivesh to reporters in Aurangabad on Monday. He also said, "During the fast, if Anna's life would have been sacrificed, Kejriwal would have emerged the sole successor of the anti-corruption movement."

However, Anna knew of Kejriwal’s plan and asked for intervention from Vilasrao Deshmukh, former chief minister of Maharashtra, who at that time was a minister in UPA government, said Agnivesh.
