On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over a Cabinet meeting where he referred to Operation 'Sindoor'—a precise military operation aimed at nine terrorist camps located across the border in retaliation for the Pahalgam attack—as a "moment of pride." He apprised the Cabinet that the operation had been executed flawlessly, with "no errors whatsoever" and was "successfully completed." The Prime Minister highlighted that the Army had adhered strictly to the meticulous preparations that had been established beforehand for this mission. During the discussion, PM Modi commended the armed forces for their "exceptional performance" and "flawless execution," stating, "Our entire nation was looking to us. We take pride in our Army." Cabinet members voiced their unwavering confidence in PM Modi's leadership and demonstrated their approval for the government's actions by applauding. They conveyed their solidarity with the Prime Minister and the military in the ongoing battle against terrorism, according to various reports.

The military operation targeting terrorist installations in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir commenced at 1:05 AM on May 6, lasting merely 25 minutes. Within that timeframe, nine camps and training centers were struck using stand-off weapons including the HAMMER bomb and the SCALP missile, as well as others designed to hover in an area for target verification prior to detonation. The government stated that these strikes were coordinated to evade detection and maximize impact. India's military response was described as a "measured, non-escalatory, proportionate, and responsible" reaction to Pakistan’s backing of cross-border terrorism. In retaliation, Pakistan resorted to "arbitrary and indiscriminate firing," along with artillery shelling across the Line of Control, resulting in the deaths of at least three civilians in the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a significant demonstration of leadership, two women officers, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, co-led the briefing on Operation Sindoor. The operation was named as a tribute to the women who lost their husbands in the terrorist attack, and the selection of female officers to spearhead the briefing was applauded as a strong statement. During the briefing, they highlighted crucial details regarding the calibrated and measured response. "Terrorist targets were selected based on credible intelligence regarding their role in cross-border terrorism. No military installations in Pakistan were targeted during Operation Sindoor," Colonel Sofiya Qureshi stated after Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri spoke. Wing Commander Vyomika Singh remarked, "India has shown significant restraint in its response. However, the Indian Armed Forces are fully prepared to counter any Pakistani misadventure should it arise to escalate the situation."
