'People's President' APJ Abdul Kalam was laid to rest with full state honors in Rameswaram, his hometown in Tamilnadu on Thursday.

Fondly known as 'People's President', Dr APJ Abdul Kalam died due to massive cardiac arrest on Monday in Shillong. He was accorded with full state honors. The funeral was attended by PM Narendra Modi, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and several other leaders and VIPs from across the world.

Prayers at burial site

After the funeral proceedings are completed, leaders who attended the ceremony observed silence for two minutes in the memory of former Indian President. Muslims and Kalam’s family members offered prayers at the burial site.

Parliament adjourned

To pay respect to Abdul Kalam, Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day, while Rajya Sabha is adjourned till 2 pm today. No business transactions will be made in view of the funeral of Kalam.
