If you have arranged an overseas journey with Air India in the upcoming months, there is crucial news. The airline shared in a press announcement that they will be making temporary reductions and schedule alterations to several international flights from June to August 2026. Routes to North America, Europe, Australia, and many Asian locations are included. Air India mentioned in an official message that this action was prompted by two significant issues. Operating long-distance routes has become more expensive and difficult due to limitations in airspace over certain regions and historical high prices for jet fuel for international flights. Instead of risking unexpected flight cancellations, Air India has decided to decrease the number of flights early to provide a more reliable network and avoid confusion for travelers. Even with these adjustments, the company noted it will maintain over 1,200 international flights each month across five continents. Therefore, international services remain quite active. The press release indicated that there will still be 33 flights per week to North America, 47 to Europe, 57 to the UK, 8 to Australia, 158 to the Far East, Southeast Asia, and SAARC areas, and 7 to Mauritius in Africa.

Some of the largest changes involve North American flights, as the service from Delhi to Chicago has been temporarily stopped. Flights from Delhi to San Francisco, Toronto, and Vancouver have been reduced. On a brighter side, daily flights from Mumbai to Newark will now be available. Europe is also experiencing a decrease in flights. Well-traveled routes such as Paris, Rome, Zurich, Vienna, Milan, and Copenhagen will have fewer weekly services. In Australia, the flights from Delhi to Melbourne and Delhi to Sydney have been cut from daily service to only 4 times a week during this period. The most significant changes are happening in Asia and nearby places. Flights from Delhi to Shanghai have been put on hold until August. Flights from Chennai to Singapore, Mumbai to Dhaka, and Delhi to Malé have also been temporarily suspended. Other routes to Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Kathmandu, Colombo, Dhaka, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City will continue, but with a reduced number of weekly flights. Air India assures that passengers affected will receive direct assistance. If your flight is canceled or altered, the airline will provide options for rebooking, changing dates, or full refunds based on your ticket type. Travelers are encouraged to monitor updates solely through Air India's official website, app, customer service, or verified social media platforms.

The announcement regarding the adjustment of flights has arrived after a surge of confusion online. Viral posts on social media falsely claimed that Air India had canceled all international flights until July due to a fuel shortage. This understandably alarmed many travelers. Now, Air India has dispelled those rumors and released the updated temporary flight schedule.
