Amal Alamuddin has officially changed her surname to that of her new husband George Clooney as she returns to her work as a highly acclaimed human rights barrister working in the field of international relations.

Her official profile page on her law firm’s website now reads “Amal Clooney,” signifying that the 36-year-old barrister has officially taken Clooney’s name.

"Amal Clooney is a barrister specialising in international law, human rights, extradition and criminal law. She has represented clients in cases before the International Criminal Court, the International Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights, as well as in domestic courts in the UK and US."

ICYMI, internationally esteemed barrister Amal Alamuddin got married to George Clooney this past month in a lovely ceremony at the Aman Canal Grande Hotel in Venice, Italy. Now, happily married.

Amal is receiving strong criticism on the Internet for the decision. From disappointed Twitter posts to full-on essays, some actually seem to be in strong disagreement a few even going so far as to call it “anti-feminist”.
