Dakota Johnson may play the role of Johnny Depp's love interest in 'Black Mass'. Talks are on between the filmmakers and the 'Fifty Shades of Grey' actress to star opposite Depp in the movie that is based on Whitey Bulger, the notorious gangster.

If things work out, 24-year-old actress will portray the character of mother of Bulger's son Douglas.

The film centres around Bulger, who informs FBI about Mafia family that had intruded his turf. Later the FBI declared him a criminal and he goes into hiding. For years he was untraceable until his arrest in 2011.

According to reports, the Boston crime kingpin had quite a few women in his life. But Dakota will play the role of Lindsey, mother of Bulger's child.

Scott Cooper will direct the project.
