Steven Spielberg may direct a 50-year-old script written by Dalton Trumbo, who had been blacklisted from working at Hollywood. The screenplay with the title Montezuma, written 50 years ago, is likely to be directed by the iconic filmmaker with Oscar-awarded actor Javier Bardem as the lead star, according to Ace Showbiz reports.
The plot in the script is based on the conflict between Spanish explorer Hernan Cortez and Aztec's emperor Montezuma as the former took an expedition to Mexico to increase the wealth of Spain. Dreamworks has planned to make an adaptation of the original script, and is likely to be name it "Cortez" as the movie would be narrated through the eye of the explorers.
Before being blacklisted, Dalton Trumbo was bestowed with the Oscar award twice, once for the 1953 movie Roman Holiday and once again in 1956 for the script of The Brave One. Trumbo was blacklisted for failing to testify about un-American activities in the US. The court had alleged him for contempt of US Congress and sent him to prison for 11 months.
