Michael Fassbender is likely to star in DreamWorks' film The Light Between Oceans. Fassbender is in negotiation to work in the film, which would be an adaptation of M.L. Stedman's novel.

Derek Cianfrance will helm the project, while David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford will produce the movie.

The story is based in the period after World War I , in an island located off the coast of Western Australia.

A lighthouse keeper and his wife find a 2-month-old girl and a dead body in a rowboat and decide to raise the baby as their own. But what seems like a blessing soon turns tragic, as morality and love are tested.
