Shooting for Steven Spielberg's new film will begin soon in a residential neighbourhood of Brooklyn. The yet to be titled film will be a Cold War thriller.

The residential DUMBO area in the New York City borough of Brooklyn is being transformed for filming the upcoming project.

The neighbourhood of the Manhattan Bridge is being given a 1960s look. Old signs and businesses in the narrow streets have been given a look of that era to recreate the New York of the past decades for the big screen.

Spielberg will soon start shooting in the DUMBO neighbourhood, where production teams have occupied several square blocks of the area for days, according to reports. DUMBO stands for ‘Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass’ and was designated as a historic districts of Brooklyn in 2007.

The film, which feature actors Tom Hanks, Amy Ryan and Eve Hewson, is yet to get an official title, but the shooting site in Brooklyn has signs posted referring the locality as "St. James Place".

The film tells the true story about attorney James Donovan, known for negotiating with the Soviet Union and Cuba from the US side in several crises in the 1960s.
