What happened when pop world's two most eccentric divas took to the stage together?
In a rarest of the rare event, Madonna and Miley set the stage on fire as they came together to twerk and entertain like never before for the duo's rendition of Cyrus' hit "We Can't Stop" and Madonna's 2000 hit 'Don't Tell Me' in MTV Unplugged.
The girls couldn't help it. They twerked, stuck their tongues out, gagged and gigged before the world in the well-hyped duet.
The idea of mixing her big hit with Madonna’s country-tinged oldie “Don’t Tell Me” was genuinely clever - though the stars’ interaction proved discomforting. Miley seemed in appopriate awe but you get the idea the elder star was reluctant to pass the torch. You felt her holding on for dear life.
Miley seemed far more at ease, both here and in all her vocals. If that helped her fulfill the show’s basic premise - to put the focus back on the music — it couldn’t make her songs seem as headline-worthy as her stunts.
