The BMC reviewed its readiness as the IMD issued a red alert for Mumbai. In response, the BMC chief asked top officials to take immediate steps to ensure the city's safety and preparedness. The chief instructed assistant commissioners to have at least one executive engineer stationed in each ward's control room to enable quick communication and action during emergencies from the expected severe weather. All assistant commissioners must stay in direct contact with the Disaster Management Control Room for updates and be prepared to come to the office if urgent situations arise at night. The Storm Water Drain Chief Engineer was tasked with ensuring all staff are deployed and dewatering pumps are fully operational.

The meteorological department has warned of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in parts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai and Thane. A red alert has been issued for these areas, indicating the potential for extremely heavy downpours and strong winds. The weather agency has also issued an orange alert for Palghar district and a red alert for Pune, Raigad, and Ratnagiri, predicting similar severe weather conditions. The department has advised residents to take precautions and exercise caution when venturing out, as the storm is expected to continue for the next few hours.
