Even after months, tension prevails in Manipur. In the fresh violence, at least three people were killed including a father and a son.
On Saturday morning trouble started again in Bishnupur district. The incident took place at around 2 AM in Bishnupur district, Tampak locality. As per reports, three people were shot down while they were sleeping and later slashed by swords at Kwatka. The deceased are reportedly from the Meitei community.
Several Kuki community houses were on fire in retaliatory mob violence. Many Kuki community people stayed at relief camps and returned recently to their houses after the situation turned normal. Now a father and son's death has raised the violence again.
Police reported that heavy firing took place at Churachandpur when the forces tried to stop the mob. There was violence between the Kuki community and security forces. One policeman was injured in the incident and many sustained minor injuries. They were carried to Raj Medicity in Impal and are currently under treatment and out of danger.
All the market areas went on shutdown as a general strike. The complete ethnic violence in Manipur has claimed 160 lives and left hundreds of injuries.
