Omicron Scare: 100 from Abroad Untraceable in Maharashtra

The Omicron variant of coronavirus is making the world sleepless and the new cases saw a rise in several countries because of this variant. The Union Health Ministry issued strict guidelines for all the states and screen people who are coming from abroad. All their close contacts too are monitored and around 17 cases of Omicron variant are reported in India for now. 109 passengers out of the 295 foreign returnees in Thane are missing and their whereabouts could not be traced told Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) chief Vijay Suryavanshi. The mobile phones of all these passengers are switched off they are not available at the mentioned addresses.

All the foreign passengers have to undergo seven-day home quarantine after which a RT-PCR coronavirus test would be conducted on the eighth day. The passengers will have to undergo home quarantine for one more week even after the coronavirus test coming negative. But all the 105 foreign passengers are untraceable and they flouted all the norms told the government officials. He said that around 72 percent of the people in Thane took the first dose of coronavirus vaccine and 52 percent of them are completely vaccinated. One Omicron case is reported in Dombivali residency recently and 2 people are tested positive for omicron variant in Maharashtra yesterday. A man aged 37 returned from South Africa along with his female friend who returned from USA. Both these are detected with omicron variant of coronavirus.
