In a press conference that was conducted on Sunday, President Donald Trump reported saying that the country has already tested over 1.6 million people for the novel coronavirus in the United States. The results from the same have been shared with the people who have undergone the testing.

Trump stated saying that the amount of vigorous testing that they have been doing is far more than what any other country has done so far.

In one of the coronavirus taskforce press, Trump stated saying, “We are starting to see light at the end of the tunnel and hopefully in the not-too-distant future, we'll be very proud of the job we all did."

Aside from that, he also stated that Abbott Laboratories will produce 1,200 of its new 15 minutes testing kits weekly for faster testing and better steps. The test kit made by Abbott was approved by the FDA on March 27.

Trump also highlighted the fact saying, “300 million gloves, 8 million masks, 3 million gowns, and many more critical supplies are being distributed across the nation right now."

Aside from that, during the press conference, Trump also extended his solidarity with the UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, wishing him a speedy recovery during this time of crisis. He was tested positive for the virus a few weeks back and has recently been rushed to the ICU because of the complications that covid-19 brought along.

In saying, Trump further stated, “I want to express our nation's well wishes to Prime Minister Boris Johnson as he wages his own personal fight with the virus. All Americans are praying for him. He's a friend of mine, he's a great gentleman and a great leader."

Trump further added that he believes that Johnson would recover pretty soon.

With the Holy Week and Palm Sunday, Trump also urged all the Americans to pray for the first responders and the frontline healthcare workers during this time of crisis. He wanted people to keep them in their prayers who are risking their lives every day to fight this global coronavirus pandemic.

As of early Tuesday, March 07, 2020, United States has already reported over 367,000 confirmed cases with the death toll crossing 10,000. New York is the worst hit amidst all the states, reporting around 40% of the cases in the country at the moment.
