Airtel Expands 4G Network in Remote places of Ladakh

High speed 4G and 2G services have been launched in 26 villages in Ladakh by Bharti Airtel (Airtel) today as a part of its deepening pan-India 4G network deployment. Airtel is the first operator in these villages and which has brought high speed mobile broadband and has connected them to digital superhighway.

The team of Airtel network has put in efforts in order to overcome the challenges of harsh weather and tough terrain in order to empower the people in this region.

"This is a New Year gift from Airtel to the people of Ladakh. We are pleased to bring cheers to thousands of locals in Ladakh with the launch of our 4G & 2G services and bring 26 new villages on the world map for 4G. We remain committed to the Government's Digital India vision and will continue to invest in Ladakh," said Manu Sood, Hub CEO- Upper North, Bharti Airtel.

The local community will be enabled to enjoy the digital services like HD quality video streaming, super fast downloads and uploads and high speed internet browsing. Project Leap, Airtel was the first operator as a part of Airtel’s network transformation initiative which has been going nationwide, to launch 4G services in Ladakh’s Leh, Kargil& Dras in december 2017.
