Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya have been selected for the Indian cricket team that will compete in a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, but chief selector Ajit Agarkar mentioned that their participation will depend on whether they pass their fitness tests. Shubman Gill will captain the team in this ODI series with Shreyas Iyer serving as his assistant. Virat Kohli has also been named for the white-ball matches, while KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan will take on the roles of wicket-keepers. The squad also features some new players, including Gurnoor Brar, Prince Yadav, and Harsh Dubey, who have been added to the 15-player team. Jasprit Bumrah will not be participating in this series.
KL Rahul has stepped in for Pant as the vice-captain for the Indian Test squad, which is under the leadership of Shubman Gill. Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been given a break from the Test match. The selection committee for the senior men's team, headed by Ajit Agarkar, convened to finalize India's teams for their upcoming home games against Afghanistan. These games include a single Test in Mullanpur starting on June 6, and three ODIs set to take place from June 14 in Dharamsala, Lucknow, and Chennai. Manav Suthar, a spin bowler, and Gurnoor Brar, a fast bowler, have received their first call-ups to the Test team. They are teammates at the Gujarat Titans in the IPL, while Prince Yadav is a newcomer in the ODI squad, with Ishan Kishan being the second wicket-keeper.
