‘Guardian’- real-time ride monitoring system launched by Ola in India

The Artificial Intelligence features are to expanded, as announced by Ola on Monday. The safety feature called ‘Guardian’ which is based on Artificial Intelligence is to be expanded across several cities in the country.
‘Guardian’ uses real-time data from the rides in order to detect irregular trip activity which includes prolonged stops and unexpected route deviations, automatically. The feature is now in sixteen Indian cities with Ola aiming to take this further to more cities in the coming quarter.
"We are focused on developing innovations that place customer safety at the heart of platform experience. Guardian brings together the precision of artificial intelligence with the assurance of human intervention, enabling a uniform and safe mobility experience across the markets we operate in," stated the Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Ola, Arun Srinivas.
The Ola has a 24*7 safety team which when the ‘Guardian’ is flagged out, reaches out to the customer and the drivers in order to confirm whether they are safe and it also offers on-the-call assistance until the completion of the ride.
The feature is build on Machine Learning (ML), says the ride hailing firm and which enables it to learn and evolve every day from million of data points and that improves signaling the risk and instant resolution.
The first ‘Gaurdian’ was rolled out by Ola in Pune, Mumbai and Bengaluru in September 2018.
