Renewed efforts are being made by migrants stranded in Croatia to move towards north even though Slovenia and Hungary are acting to restrain them. Friday night, pepper spray was used by Slovenian police against people trying to cross from Harmica, Croatia.
Meanwhile, Croatia was accused by Hungary of breaking international law as asylum seekers who were not first registered were sent over the border. Emergency talks will be held next week in the EU, divided on the migrant crisis.
Migrants thousands in number spent overnight at railway stations or sleeping along roadside. Straying from transport routes, most walked across cornfields to reach boarders.
Friday was a day of turmoil and confusion. Governments stayed split on handling the crisis. People were literally shunted from one border to another. Earlier this week, thousands of migrants tried to move from Serbia to Croatia after the Serbian border was fenced off by Hungary besides sealing close the previous route north.
Croatia, which initially said it, would welcome migrants, said on Friday that besieged to see 17,000 arrivals since Wednesday. Except the main road that links Belgrade and Zagreb, all other border crossings with Serbia were closed. Then people were sent north by Croatia without registering them.
