Kerala Finance Minister KM Mani, who was allegedly involved in several corruption activities including the famous ‘1 crore by bar owners’, presented his 13th state budget in spite of severe apprehensions by the opposition parties inside and outside the legislative assembly.
Opposition LDF MLAs have been demanding his resignation and seriously warned that they won’t allow the FM to present the budget in assembly, but the CM Oommen Chandy made it clear in the Assembly that Mr. Mani would present the budget as he has the constitutional right for it.
Reacting to the warnings by the LDF and BJYM leaders, Mr. Chandy maintained in the Assembly on Thursday that allegations against Mr. Mani were part of a “political conspiracy” and extended his support to Finance Minister.
After the opposition parties decided to block the roads to obstruct the FM, Mr. Mani and some of his Cabinet colleagues too stayed back inside the Assembly complex on Thursday night. He came directly with a mike on his shirt and read out the budget paper.
The Ente Vaka 500 campaign or Money Order Campaign against him by the youth created much hype in media in the month of January.
