Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal was on Friday evening reminded that politics is not all roses. Kejriwal was attacked by a self-proclaimed supporter of Anna Hazare during a road show in Haryana's Charkhi Dadri.

The unidentified man threw black ink at the AAP leader, when he was greeting people and shaking hands with them. Kejriwal alleged that the man hit him on his neck and his spectacles fell to the ground.

The man identified as Krishan Kumar from Legha village was immediately caught by AAP supporters and beaten up.

However, Kejriwal soon intervened and asked his supporters not to take the law into their hands by thrashing the man. He enjoined upon the supporters that the purpose of AAP was to bring truth before the people through peaceful means and not with the aid of violence.

The incident was later tweeted by Kejriwal saying someone hit him hard on his neck. He said such violent reaction was expected from his opponents as it reveals their true character and desperation.

Eventually Krishan Kumar, who is in his twenties, was handed over to the police. On being questioned the man revealed that he was an Anna Hazare supporter.

The man said that he was angry with the AAP leader for "hijacking" the movement from Anna Hazare. However, he denied slapping Kejriwal and said that he only protested by throwing ink on the AAP leader.
