Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member have been booked for disrespecting the national flag of the country. A case has been booked at a local court in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh.
The local court directed police to probe into a case against AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, Shazia Ilmi, Rajmohan Gandhi, Ashutosh, and six other party members. The orders were issued on March 22 by the Court of judicial magistrate first class R K Devalia.
Case against the AAP leaderes has been registered by one Rajendra Mishra, who is a local resident. In his complaint Mishra alleged that AAP leaders carry their party symbol "Jhaadu" (broom) as well as the tricolour during their campaigns.
M A Syed, Bina police station in charge, confirmed reports of the complaint saying that it was booked under Section 2 of the Prevention of Insult to the National Honour Act 1971. Syed said that the police station has got orders to investigate into the cases involving ten people.
Kejriwal, Ilmi, Ashutosh and Rajmohan are residents of Delhi and their case would be forwarded to senior officials, Syed said while adding that cases against them would be then forwarded to Delhi police.
Besides the top AAP leaders, six local names figure in the complaint. These are locals and include Sagar Lok Sabha seat candidate Atul Mishra, party workers Shikhar Agrawal, Gita Patel, Kshitij Jain, Malkhan Parihar and Jagpreet Singh Bhogal.
