After WhatApp web version, the chat app is coming with voice calling feature to overcome the competition from the Hike messenger app, which introduced voice calling service.
Anyhow how the newest feature is confined to some users as of now, since this feature is still in testing phase. The feature is also restricted to Android only and you will need the updated 2.11.508 version to access the app.
pradnesh07, a registered reddit user reportedly received an updated version of WhatsApp which enabled him to enjoy the new service.
However the new version is not readily available in Google store, According to pradnesh07, one need to download the APK file from the WhatsApp’s website. Giving out a description about the interface, the post also mentioned, ‘It’s like an invite thing, where a person with the call feature needs to "call" another person who wants to start using the feature’.
WhatsApp will have three tabs - calls, chats, and contacts. The call interface seems to be similar to your handset’s contact directory and also simple. It keeps a record of your recent WhatsApp calls just like the messages.
WhatsApp messaging service was created by Brian Acton and Jan Koum in 2009. In February 2013, WhatsApp reached 200 million mark. Next year, Facebook acquired WhatsApp for $19 billion - which is the largest purchase of a company backed by venture capitalists.
Now WhatsApp is having over 700 million active users sending over 30 billion messages in a day. The new feature from WhatsApp can entertain the users a lot, as they are providing free of cost initially.
