Actor Jared Leto may replace Will Smith in 'Brilliance'. The Oscar-awarded actor is in early stages of talks to join the project. Noomi Rapace will also star in this film.
'Brilliance' will be Legendary’s adaptation of novel by Marcus Sakey. Julius Onah will helm the project, which has been scripted by David Koepp.
The project is being produced by Thomas Tull, Joe Roth and Jon Jashni.
The story in Sakey's book is set in a world, where there is a group of people who possess extraordinary abilities and are called “brilliants.” This set of people were born with with their rare skills.
If the talks between Leto and the filmmakers work out then he will play the role of a federal agent, who has great hunting gifts. The character is recruited to hunt down a terrorist, who is another brilliant and harbours the intension to begin a civil war.
Will Smith left the project around May end, citing schedule conflicts. Smith will star in Warner Bros’ Focus , which is scheduled for release on Feb. 27. Recently he also joined Ridley Scott's NFL concussion movie.
Jared Leto won the Oscar for best supporting actor for his work in Dallas Buyers Club.
