Putting an end to all the speculations, actor Will Smith confirmed that he won't reprise his role of Captain Steven Hiller in director Roland Emmerich sci-fi sequel of Independence Day.
The 45-year-old star informed 20th Century Fox that he won't be a part of the sequel, which is slated to hit the theaters on July 1st, 2016.
Interestingly, 2016 will also mark the the 20th anniversary of "Independence Day," which raked in $817.4 million overall.
The movie is currently in its pre-production phase with Emmerich and co-writer and producer Dean Devlin writing two different versions of the movie — one featuring Smith and one not.
