Getting engaged to Amber Heard wasn't a “shotgun affair” insists the pirate of her heart, Johnny Depp.

Rubbing all news on her pregnancy, Johnny Depp told Savannah Guthrie on the “Today show Friday” that he and fiancee Amber aren't expecting.

'A child? Good god, what do you think I am, a savage?' 'No, no truth to that. [It's] not a shotgun affair,' Johnny told a rather embarrassed Savannah.

'A southern belle and sweet as can be, and very good for me,' the actor added with real feeling.

When Guthrie went on to press the star upon his engagement ring that looked like a female's, the actor simply snapped his fingers in response.

A US weekly reveals that the star began wearing the diamond sparkler he gave Heard as it didn't fit her.

On Monday, Depp flaunted his rock which he called a 'chick's ring', subtly hinting at his engagement to the actress.

Asked whether he was engaged, Depp replied: 'The fact that I'm wearing a chick's ring on my finger is probably a dead giveaway. Not very subtle.'

He grinned and lifted his ringer to show off a single diamond on a band .

His comments confirm all reports of his engagement to actress Heard. Of late, Depp has been busy appearing on TV shows to promote his new film Transcendence, which opens on April 18.
