Here's a quintessential summer dish that you will love to munch on - the good, old cucumber salad or sunomono, as the dish is called in Japanese. Bursting with summer coolness and oodles of flavor, this vinegary salad is a breeze to make and makes a wonderful replacement for Indian raitas, especially on days when you are feeling too lazy to whip up one. Here's how you can make this quick salad at home.
Ingredients
2-3 Japanese cucumbers or 4 Persian cucumbers
3 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp sugar
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame seeds
Instructions
Slice cucumbers into thin pieces.
Add with salt, toss and wait for 5 minutes. Now squeeze cucumbers to remove water.
Mix rice vinegar, sugar, and soy sauce and pour over cucumbers.
Top off with sesame seeds.
