At least 13 passengers of the Lucknow-Mumbai Pushpak Express were killed in Maharashtra's Jalgaon district after they jumped off the train due to rumors of a fire and were hit by the speeding Karnataka Express on the adjacent track. The victims included 9 men and 4 women. According to railway officials, a track curve affected the visibility for the Karnataka Express, leading to the tragic incident. The Maharashtra Chief Minister expressed regret over the incident and announced a financial assistance of ₹5 lakh to the families of the deceased. The Railway Board also announced an ex-gratia of ₹1 for the victims.
