Delhi Airport Gets Special Enclosure For Fliers

The Delhi airport has created special areas to accommodate passengers whose flights are delayed or disrupted due to fog, bad weather, or technical issues. These enclosed spaces, located at various terminals, can hold 55 to 120 passengers at a time. Passengers can wait in these areas without having to go through additional security checks, and they can then access the airport's facilities, including food, once they are allowed to enter the secure area. Only passengers and airline staff who are stuck on the planes will be permitted to use these special enclosures.

The airport authorities are installing enclosed areas to enhance safety and security for passengers. The Private Security Agency (PSA) will also verify passengers' documents before they enter these zones. Additionally, the authorities are working to provide essential amenities like restrooms and vending machines within these enclosures.

The Delhi Airport CEO stated that this new initiative aims to significantly reduce the time required for disembarking and boarding passengers whose flights are affected by fog, weather, or technical issues. Last month, Delhi experienced extensive flight delays and cancellations due to dense smog, with the air quality index plummeting to an alarming 500 in some areas and visibility dropping to just 500 meters. According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), the current AQI in Delhi is 273, which falls in the 'poor' category.
