Prime Minister Modi said at the General Assembly of the 16th BRICS Summit: We support dialogue and diplomacy, not war. Prime Minister Modi expressed concern about pressing challenges such as war, economic instability, climate change and terrorism and said the JCPOA can play an active role in steering the world in the right direction. He said: "We need to send a message to the world that BRICS is not a divisive force but a group of common interests and that we need to work together to overcome challenges like the coronavirus, which can ensure we create new opportunities." to secure the future.” We create security, strength and prosperity for future generations.

He also called for strong and unanimous cooperation among Member States in combating terrorism and terrorist financing. Prime Minister Modi said: “We need your clear and decisive support in the fight against terrorism and terrorist financing. There is no room for double standards on this vital issue." The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of taking preventive measures to prevent the radicalization of young people, adding: We must take part in the long overdue comprehensive convention against the international Terrorism at the United Nations. “Similarly, we need to address global regulations on cybersecurity and secure artificial intelligence,” he said. In his speech, Prime Minister Modi said India is ready to welcome the new BRICS countries as partners. He said: In this regard, all decisions should be made by consensus and the opinions of the BRICS founding members should be respected.

The prime minister also supported reform of the United Nations Security Council and other global institutions. He said: "We must continue limited reforms in global institutions such as the United Nations Security Council, multilateral development banks and the World Trade Organization." Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday named Xi Jinping, India's Narendra Modi and other world leaders as leaders of the emerging BRICS group, as part of the Kremlin's efforts to counter the West's global influence. This alliance, which initially included Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, was expanded to include Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Malaysia have officially applied for membership, and several other countries have expressed interest.

The three-day summit in Kazan, attended by 36 countries, highlighted the failure of U.S.-led efforts to isolate Russia over its actions in Ukraine. The Kremlin described the meeting as “Russia’s largest diplomatic event.”
