Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced India’s Unified payments interface (UPI) method will be adopted by France. From now on Indian tourists can pay in rupees in France. The UPI system in France will start at the iconic Eifel Tower. This would lower the cost of funds transfer and remittance payments. UPI and Singapore have already signed a deal for the payments through the virtual payments address created by the customer. The national payments corporation of India (NPCI) is also in talks with other countries including the USA, west Asian countries and Europe for UPI services.

During his offices visit to France Narendra Modi has addressed La Seine Musicale in Paris. Modi said that India has a great transformation towards digital payments and said that the UPI method in France is a great initiative for trade and tourism between India and France. Both the countries are also working together on archaeological missions. Narendra Modi asked people-to-people to create more connect between France and India so to get the strongest foundation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on an official visit to France after receiving an invitation from France Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, who welcomed Modi from the airport.
