Initial reports say that Chennai-Coromandel Express took the loop instead of the main line just before the Bahanagar Bazar Station. The station has two main lines and two loop lines. The Coromandel Express running at a speed of 127km/ph took the loop line. Within minutes Coromandel Express hit the goods train parked on the loop line. The very next minute Howrah - Yashwantnagar Express coming in the opposite direction collided with the derailed Coromandel Express coaches.
Few areal views have been released by the officials, where the visuals are disturbing. Coaches were spotted one on another and dead bodies were lying on the railway track.
