Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray submits his Resignation

After 40 MLAs from Shiv Sena turned rebels, the ruling government collapsed. The government of Maharashtra filed a petition in the Supreme Court to stay the floor test. The top court last evening refused to stay the floor test. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray submitted his resignation after the decision of the Supreme Court was out. Uddhav Thackeray met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and submitted his resignation. The Governor asked him to continue in the post till the new Chief Minister gets elected. Uddhav Thackeray along with his sons Aaditya and Tejas offered prayers at a temple after he submitted his resignation. There are strong talks that BJP would take charge as the new party in the state.

The rebel MLAs are currently staged in Goa and the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant reached Taj Hotel in Panaji to meet the MLAs. Devendra Fadnavis chaired a meeting and he is interacting with the independent MLAs. Uddhav Thackeray's resignation was accepted and he headed to his residence. Maharashtra BJP Chief Chandrakant Patil asked the rebel MLAs to return back to the state as the arrangements for the formation of the new alliance are currently being made. Uddhav Thackeray is a reluctant politician and he could not stand in power for a long time. There are talks that he also lost control of his party that is floated by his father Bal Thackeray.
