Outrage on India over Comments on Prophet Muhammad

There is a huge outrage in the Gulf countries after several comments are made on Prophet Muhammad by two leaders of BJP. One of them is now expelled and the other leader is suspended. The Gulf countries demanded an apology from the government of India on the comments made on Prophet Muhammad. The nations of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, the UAE demanded an apology after the derogatory remarks made on Prophet Muhammad. There was a widespread debate on social media to boycott Indian goods in the Gulf countries. The Indian Foreign Ministry revealed that the offensive tweets do not reflect the views of the Indian government.

Ambassador Deepak Mittal in Qatar said that the comments made by individual leaders will not reflect the views of the Indian government. One of the officials from the Embassy of Qatar in New Delhi said that the government of India should stand distant from the individual comments. He said that the comments made on religious sentiments will directly or indirectly have an impact on the economic ties between the countries. The BJP suspended spokesperson Nupur Sharma and expelled Naveen Jindal for their controversial comments. Nupur Sharma made the comments during a tv debate last week after a series of communal incidents that took place in the country. BJP Media Chief Naveen Jindal posted a tweet about Prophet Muhammad.

BJP told that the party is against the ideology that insults any section or a religion. India's trade with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is around 90 billion USD.
