The Indian government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have been quite active on the crisis in Ukraine after Russia announced war against the nation. Close to 17,000 Indian students and working professionals have been evacuated safely from Ukraine and two Indians lost their lives till date. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a crucial meeting today to review the situation in Ukraine. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla have been present for the crucial meeting.

Indian government launched 'Operation Ganga' to evacuate the Indians from Ukraine. Four Indian ministers flew to the neighboring countries and are personally monitoring the evacuation process. Narendra Modi spoke to Russian President Putin to ensure the safe passage of the Indians from Ukraine. Several private airlines and the Indian Air Force have been operating special flights and are carrying the evacuation process. Several Indians cross the Ukraine border and reached Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovak Republic. Narendra Modi is expected to take crucial calls after the meeting gets concluded. He also interacted with the Indian students who returned back to the country yesterday.
