Nirmala Sitharaman, finance minister of India gave a statement on the assault happened on a female employee within the bank premises in Surat.

A video has went viral on social media where a police constable is been seen assaulting a female employee of a bank in Surat. This assault happened within the premises of the bank. On Wednesday Nirmala Sitharaman who is the finance minister of the country made a statement that nothing should threaten the safety and dignity of bank employees and she also confirmed that she would closely look in to the matter.

Nirmala Sitharaman took to twitter to express her concern and ensure that the citizens of the country know that the case is being handled by the Finance minister herself. She was also seen saying that her office has already spoken to Commissioner of Police of the Surat City in Gujarat. The Commissioner has also assured that the constable who is been seeing manhandling the female employee is going to be suspended immediately and necessary actions are going to be taken.

The finance minister also made a statement in which she assures that the safety concerns of all the employees in the bank are an utmost important to them as they have been serving the public in these extreme conditions during a world health crisis.  ‘Nothing should threaten their safety and dignity,’ said Sitharaman in a post on twitter.

The Commissioner of Police also assured that he himself will visit the branch and assure and confirm that the staff of their safety and see to it that something like this won’t happen in the coming future.

Dhavan Patel, Surat Collector was also contacted by the Finance Minister, who assured that timely action will be taken on the FIR filed last night.

The people on social media are not taking this incident lightly and they need immediate action on the police official involved in the assault. According to the videos being surfaced online, the particular police official is being seen manhandling the other staff of the bank as well showing his police ID card. As of now there has not been any report of the accused being suspended or jailed.
