Mumbai Registered 363 Cases Over Unacceptable COVID-19 Posts

The coronavirus pandemic has already created enough disturbance in every aspect of our lives that people are sharing rumors and wrong information on social media during the lockdown.

On Saturday, Maharashtra Cyber registered 363 offences for rumor mongering, spreading misinformation, hatred and fake news on COVID-19.

The cyber wing is vigilant and monitoring cases online so that people don’t spread fake news about COVID-19.

Officials said, around 196 people have been arrested for sharing and uploading objectionable posts, videos and photographs on social media.

So far, there are 14 offences registered by the cyber wing against a few people in Sangli district. They uploaded a tik tok video that indicated that a community is responsible for this pandemic. Besides they abused a social reformer.

Similarly, another community in the Parli town of beed district, posted offensive information on COVID-19 pointing out at a particular community. This district recorded the highest number of cyber offences during the lockdown.

Among all the 363 cases, 155 cases are whatsapp forwards and the others were objectionable facebook posts.

Cyber wing deleted 101 objectionable posts from social media.
