Prepaid Mobile Connections Restored in Jammu and Kashmir

The restoration of mobile services for prepaid mobile connection has been restored in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. It is also said that the 2G services has also been resumed in the two districts of the valley which had been disconnected in August 2019.

The principal secretary to the administration of Jammu and Kashmir, Rohit Kansal has said that the order will be coming into effect from Saturday and the facilities of voice and SMS will also be restored for all local prepaid mobile phones across the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The credentials of the subscribers have to be verified by the telecom service providers in order to provide the mobile internet connectivity on such sim cards, Rohit Kansal said.

Provision of fixed line internet connectivity has been asked to the Internet service providers. The internet connectivity has been asked for all the 10 districts of the region of Jammu and the two districts namely, kupwara and bandipora in the Norther Kashmir.

The Centre has abrogated special status to the former sate of Jammu and Kashmir and has also bifurcated it into two union territories being Jammu & Kahmir as one union territory and the other being Ladakh, following which the telecom services were shut in the entire Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019.
